Permanently exhausted? No longer able to perform? Hemoperfusion as a possible solution
You may be familiar with the situation of having tried everything and still not feeling any better: you feel tired, burnt out and long for your old life.
At VitaSangius we are receiving more and more positive feedback: In around 90% of cases, the well-being and vitality of our patients improves significantly – often after the first treatment.
Hemoperfusion – or simply put: the purification of whole blood – can often help where previous approaches have failed. Our many years of experience show that our therapeutic approach is often exactly right.
We are convinced that these procedures will become increasingly recognized in the coming years and will probably also be covered by health insurance companies at some point.
Until then, we offer you a non-binding initial consultation in which our experienced team of doctors will assess the extent to which a hemoperfusion could be useful for you.
We are available for you at any time – even at weekends, depending on availability.
Your health and well-being are our top priority.

Safe and effective - proven for decades
Blood purification procedures have a long tradition. Globally known therapeutic approaches such as “detoxification” have been used successfully for decades.
The development of modern hemoperfusion therapies began in the 1980s. Extensive data and experience reports are available to prove their effectiveness.
Hemoperfusion has been shown to contribute to the improvement of metabolism, the immune system and organ function in a timely manner and in some cases even after the first treatment , thus improving quality of life and well-being .
It is an effective tool on the path to regeneration and recovery.
Hemoperfusion
Haemoperfusion is an extracorporeal blood purification procedure in which highly biocompatible substances are used. Due to their physico-chemical properties, these are able to bind various substances. This process is called adsorption or heme adsorption .
VitaSangius uses adsorbers that have both a specific and broad adsorption spectrum. The adsorbers with the broader adsorption spectrum work in a concentration-dependent manner, i.e. at high concentrations, larger quantities of cytokines, chemokines, toxins, other decomposition products etc. can be removed very quickly .
The higher flow rates support the effectiveness of this treatment. The elimination rate decreases with decreasing concentration. This concentration-dependent autoregulation is intended to counteract the complete removal of physiological substances.
Hyperthermia
Controlled blood hyperthermia during hemoperfusion focuses on the precise heating of the blood. The gentle increase in temperature (“artificial fever”) ensures continuous heating from the inside out and is generally well tolerated.
Many patients often tolerate this form of hyperthermia better than extreme whole-body hyperthermia. A heat exchanger is integrated into the extracorporeal system and connected to a heating device. This heating device is adjusted in such a way that the blood temperature is regulated individually, extremely precisely and in a controlled manner.
The blood vessels dilate and microcirculation is stimulated – this improves blood flow in the tissue, especially in the periphery (arms and legs).
Hyperthermia has a very positive effect on the immune system.
Hyperoxygenation
The supply of additional oxygen via an oxygenation unit increases the proportion of physically dissolved oxygen in the blood(hyperoxygenation). This improves the oxygen supply to the tissue, the flow properties, i.e. the viscosity of the blood, and the microcirculation.
The effect is vasodilatory and anti-inflammatory, among other things. Hyperoxygenation, like hyperthermia, has a positive influence on the immune system.

Experiences of our patients
on the way to new well-being
FAQ & costs
What exactly is a hemoperfusion or blood purification?
Hemoperfusion is a modern, extracorporeal blood purification procedure (adsorption) in which harmful substances are bound in a special filter and removed from the body. This procedure activates the body’s own defenses and also promotes blood flow to the organs.
The name “hemoperfusion” is made up of “haemo” (blood) and “perfusion” (flow). The whole blood is passed through a special filter that binds harmful substances based on their molecular size and physical and chemical properties. The filter has a surface area of approx. 65,000 m² and effectively filters out molecules such as microthrombi and proteins, e.g. spike proteins or agonistic autoantibodies.
By heating (controlled blood hyperthermia) and oxygenating (hyperoxygenation) the blood, the blood flow to the organs (perfusion) is also promoted, thereby increasing their functionality. However, this so-called hyperthermic, hyperoxygenated hemoperfusion is only used after appropriate diagnostics in consultation with the doctor. A typical indication for this is, for example, chronic Lyme disease.
Extracorporeal blood purification, i.e. the purification of blood outside the body, offers a great advantage: it relieves the liver and kidneys and thus supports the regeneration of the body’s own immune system. Immunoglobulins and lipids remain largely unaffected.
Drainage and extracorporeal blood purification procedures can also be combined with each other if indicated.
What are the advantages compared to plasmapheresis?
Haemoperfusion is a whole blood procedure that is more blood-friendly than apheresis or plasmapheresis and can be performed in a largely volume-neutral manner.
Thanks to higher flow rates (250-350 ml/minute), the treatment is safe and efficient. As a result, this procedure is significantly more effective than apheresis.
The advantages at a glance:
- Whole blood procedure
- Largely volume-neutral
- Size-selective removal of hydrophobic substances
- Broad, effective adsorption spectrum with concentration-dependent elimination (haemadsorption)
- Adsorption of activated, excessive blood cells that can cause inflammation of the colon, e.g. in ulcerative colitis
- Safe and effective
How long does a treatment take?
For the therapy, a temporary access is placed via the large jugular vein so that the blood can be removed, filtered, enriched with oxygen and returned to the body slightly warmed.
The treatment takes about four hours and is performed on an outpatient basis in our practice. During this time, depending on the flow rate, around 60 to 84 liters of blood can be purified. Depending on body weight, this corresponds to 12 to 17 times the total blood volume.
Depending on the diagnosis and indication, we recommend one to three treatments.
What are the costs for treatment?
A hemoperfusion therapy consists of a treatment, accompanying infusion concepts and continuous medical care. The exact costs may vary slightly depending on the individual state of health and any additional therapies.
It is now also possible to pay in installments (via PayPal). Further information can be found here.
Before the therapy begins, you will receive a detailed consultation and a detailed cost overview that is individually tailored to your needs and goals.
Is it possible to pay in installments?
Yes, from now on you can also pay your healthcare costs in installments via PayPal. The fee for this is 3%. You can find more information here.
Is hemoperfusion possible in children?
Yes, under certain circumstances, blood cleansing (e.g. heavy metal contamination, autoimmune diseases or long Covid) can also be useful for children. We pay particular attention to a gentle, individually tailored approach. A minimum weight of 28 kg is required.
You can find detailed information on blood purification in children in our article under News: “Gentle therapy with a big effect”.
What is the difference to an HHO protocol - HHO blood purification?
HHO protocol vs. VitaSangius hemoperfusion – two ways of blood purification in comparison
Many patients use various methods for blood purification and detoxification, including the HHO protocol. But what are the differences to VitaSangius hemoperfusion and what advantages does our method offer?
Compact treatment with the same effect
A significant difference lies in the duration of the treatment. The HHO protocol lasts three days and includes comprehensive preparation and follow-up with chelation therapy to prepare the body for detoxification in the best possible way and to stabilize it afterwards.
Hemoperfusion at VitaSangius pursues the same goal – but in a more compact form so that the treatment can be carried out in just one day.
For many patients, this saves a considerable amount of time, especially when a treatment lasting several days is difficult to organize. Nevertheless, the principle of targeted blood purification is retained so that harmful substances can be removed just as efficiently.
Effective therapy at lower costs
Due to the shorter treatment duration, hemoperfusion at VitaSangius is also economically more attractive. While the HHO protocol, which takes several days to perform, involves higher overall costs, hemoperfusion enables equally deep cleansing of the blood – with fewer appointments and therefore lower costs for patients.
Both methods focus on targeted detoxification, but for many people a shorter, more compact approach can be not only more practical but also more financially viable.
Targeted removal of pollutants – individually tailored
Both the HHO protocol and hemoperfusion aim to effectively remove toxic loads and pro-inflammatory substances from the blood. While the HHO protocol accompanies different phases of detoxification over three days, hemoperfusion can achieve the same effect within a single day of treatment.
Both methods follow a holistic approach and can be individually tailored to the patient. The decisive factor is which form of therapy best suits personal needs and time constraints.
Conclusion – two approaches, one goal
Both the HHO protocol and VitaSangius hemoperfusion offer modern blood purification methods to specifically rid the body of harmful substances. While the HHO protocol involves several days of treatment, VitaSangius haemoperfusion offers an equivalent alternative in a shorter time – and at a lower cost.
For patients looking for an effective, time-saving and cost-efficient solution, VitaSangius hemoperfusion may be an optimal choice.
