Focus on longevity
A personal look at health, age and modern possibilities.
By Ralf Drees, Managing Director VitaSangius
Sometimes I get the impression that we lose sight of the essentials because of all the health promises.
In recent years, a term has crept further and further into our everyday lives – first in English-language magazines, then in documentaries, podcasts, at conferences and now even on supermarket shelves: longevity.
Literally translated, it means longevity. However, it is not just about “living long”, but rather about staying healthy, clear-minded and vital in body for as long as possible – in other words, healthy years of life rather than simply extending life.
That sounds sensible. And it is. But as soon as you take a serious look at the topic, you quickly realize that it has become a market. A huge one.
An industry in search of the eternal fountain of youth
The longevity market is booming. Food supplements, biohacks, blood tests, genetic analyses, oxygen chambers, cold chambers, blue light filter glasses, anti-ageing coaching, apps for self-optimization – there is hardly anything that does not exist.
I don’t want to talk that down at all. Many of these approaches are exciting, innovative and can be justified.
But I also understand people who say at some point: “I don’t know what to do anymore – and who I can still believe.”
Because the greater the choice, the more difficult the decision. What makes sense? What is just a trend? And what might even be counterproductive?
The simple things still apply
In all the hype, we often overlook the fact that the most important findings about health have been known for a long time – and are actually not all that spectacular:
- Adequate sleep
- fresh, varied diet
- Regular exercise
- Mental calm and social proximity
These basics are not new – but they work. If you regularly incorporate them into your everyday life, you have already done a great deal for a long and healthy life.
But that’s also the problem: we’re often not that consistent.
Why? Because life gets in the way. Work, children, appointments, commitments. And sometimes a nice evening with friends, a glass of wine, a good meal.
That’s part of life – and I think it’s allowed.
And this is exactly where VitaSangius comes in
I spent a long time thinking, checking, reading, asking – and talking to doctors, researchersand colleagues:
Which medical applications can really help people to maintain their health in the long term – and still stay in real life?
What are not promises, but sensible additions to an active, conscious lifestyle – especially for people who don’t live perfectly 24/7?
The result is a selection of targeted Longevity applications that we offer at VitaSangius:

And our top priority is blood purification – apheresis.
Why regular blood cleansing makes sense
For us, therapeutic apheresis – i.e. medical blood purification – is the basis for healthy ageing. It is not a trend, but a tried and tested procedure from clinical medicine. And it is one thing above all: logically comprehensible.
With increasing age – but also due to lifestyle, diet, stress and environmental pollution – metabolic products, oxidative stress, inflammatory factors and environmental toxins accumulate in the blood plasma.
You often don’t notice this directly. But the body has to do more and more to stay in balance:
- the immune system becomes sluggish or overactive
- Cell regeneration slows down
- Micro-inflammations develop
- the mitochondria, our energy power plants, function less efficiently
Apheresis can act like a reset here – by specifically removing those substances that disturb the biological balance.
We see time and again that our patients report more energy, better sleep, clearer thinking and faster recovery after a blood cleanse.
Not as a placebo – but because the body can finally “breathe deeply” again, in the figurative sense.
Is it suitable for everyone?
Of course not. And we’re not saying: “Everyone needs a blood cleanse.”
But we say: For many people who are in the middle of life, who perform, bear responsibility or look after others – regular apheresis can be an enormous support.
Not as a permanent measure, but perhaps once or twice a year. As a medically sound reset. To relieve the body – and get the best out of everyday life without overtaxing yourself.
Our attitude: less is more – but the right way.
At VitaSangius, we deliberately only offer a very small selection of longevity treatments. No 50 infusions, no promises of eternal youth.
What we do, we do with conviction – medically, legally and ethically tested.
In addition to apheresis, this includes targeted infusions to supply nutrients, lymphatic drainage to activate the metabolism and medical advice on personal health strategies.
All with one goal: to help people stay healthy – without bending.
Would you like to know if this suits you?
Then get in touch with us.
We take time for you – without pressure, without sales rhetoric. But with a medical eye, honest interest and a clear commitment to quality.
Living healthily for longer – not perfectly, but consciously. That’s what we’re here for.
