Brisant/ARD reports:
New examination and treatment methods from VitaSangius GmbH for Long Covid patients are giving hope to many patients, politicians, scientists and doctors.
The team from Brisant, ARD’s tabloid magazine, regularly reports on current developments and events. They have now presented the very latest facts on long Covid and chronic fatigue syndrome. They visited the Luckenwalde Technology Park and VitaSangius GmbH to film a report on the newly developed antibody tests to confirm the diagnosis of Long Covid and corresponding therapy concepts such as plasmapheresis.

Around 10 percent of all patients infected with Covid 19 go on to suffer from long Covid. With new laboratory tests and antibody tests, the doctors at VitaSangius are able to detect patients who suffer from chronic inflammation and who may benefit from a blood purification procedure such as plasmapheresis .
Plasmapheresis can be used to remove plasma components from the blood serum of those affected, which are the cause of typical Long Covid symptoms. In addition, the flow properties of the blood are positively influenced. Chronic fatigue, difficulty concentrating and a lack of sensation are typical symptoms. In the worst cases, patients suffer from agonizing exhaustion up to the development of chronic fatigue syndrome.
Kai Schulze-Forster from the Luckenwalde Biotechnology Park helped develop one of the tests and says: “It is always a great help for those affected to be diagnosed, not just by describing the symptoms, but also with objectifiable parameters that can be detected in the blood.” The German Medical Association calls the test an important step in the research, diagnosis and certainly also in the treatment of Long Covid – but unfortunately it will not be able to detect all Long Covid patients. For the specialists in blood purification (plasmapheresis) at VitaSangius, the test is a very important step forward, as they can now help their patients even more specifically.
VitaSangius GmbH is a modern practice in Potsdam that focuses on blood purification procedures such as plasmapheresis and hemoperfusion with a team of experienced doctors and hemoperfusion specialists in Long Covid treatment. Thanks to many years of experience in the treatment of post-infectious syndromes such as chronic Lyme disease and in the treatment of oncological patients, the staff have the necessary experience. Plasmapheresis is a form of blood purification in which pathogenic substances are removed from the serum. In hemoperfusion, blood is purified by adsorbing (binding) harmful substances from the whole blood. Both are extracorporeal blood purification procedures that have been proven to improve metabolism, the immune system, organ function and therefore quality of life.
It would be desirable for all Long Covid patients and all patients with similar symptoms to be diagnosed by appropriate tests and to be able to take advantage of adjusted treatment through a blood purification procedure.
We will be happy to clarify any further questions in a personal meeting.
